As the dog fights were prohibited the breed began to eliminate; thanks to the group of the devoted people that raised these dogs and organized a club dedicated to them. The breed gained the popularity in the years 1929-1935 and was well represented in most countries of the world.

At first the dog was crossed to be a fighter in the dogfights and was called as the round heads. Later the need in fighting dogs vanished and it was decided to cross the breed with other dogs to give an elegance touch to the dog.
